The Classroom of the Future is Closer Than You Think

In traditional school models, it would be preposterous to picture a 5-year-old sharing a school with a college sophomore. But in a new era of education, it already exists.
Are you ready for the classroom of the future?
Northwest Missouri State University partnered with the city of Gladstone, Missouri, and the North Kansas City School District to create an entirely new model of education called the Northland Innovation Center. The five-acre campus was completed in 2017, and yes, it’s actually designed to educated students from kindergarten all the way through postsecondary.
As Shalina Chatlani recently wrote in Education Dive, the idea is to partner with businesses and the community to create a school-to-college career pipeline, and it might just be the next big thing in education. The 95,000-square-foot facility was tailored to create an engaging learning environment where students feel supported not just by teachers, but also the community they live in, preparing them for the workforce.
The experiment is just beginning, but it promises to net interesting results.
